DTCC TOASTMASTERS CLUB
(55 Water Street, NYC)
Club: 8639 - Division B, Area 24, District 46

The Mission of the Toastmasters Club is
to provide a mutually supportive and positive learning environment, in which every member has the opportunity to develop communication and leadership skills, which in turn foster self-confidence and personal growth.

What is the DTCC Toastmasters Club?
In the words of our club's Treasurer (2010/2011 Term), Chetan Karande:
"Henry Ford rightly said – 'Failure is the opportunity to begin again, more intelligently.' Our Toastmasters club provided me with a safe laboratory to do experiments, fail, learn, and ultimately improve my communication and leadership skills."
The DTCC Toastmasters Club is a small group of individuals who, as our mission states, practice speaking, communication and leadership skills in a friendly, fun and supportive environment. The club serves communicators of all levels and meets regularly during lunchtime and on some mornings, before work.

How Do Toastmasters Improve Their Speaking, Communication and Leadership Skills?
Members of the Toastmasters Club challenge themselves at meetings so they will be prepared to communicate clearly and comfortably at work and home.

Specifically, Toastmasters:
  • Learn, step-by-step, how to prepare and deliver speeches and presentations!
  • Administer club meetings and take on a variety of roles!
  • Practice "Thinking on Their Feet" by responding impromptu to questions!
  • Rehearse work presentations and receive constructive feedback right away.
What Other Benefits Does Toastmasters Offer?
  • Mentoring, which helps members identify and achieve their goals!
  • A structured program for members to achieve internationally-recognized certifications! Advanced communications training!
  • Opportunities to meet fellow Toastmasters from DTCC, the region and around the world!
  • Access to conferences, workshops and competitions that inspire and elevate skills!
How do I Learn More and Attend Meetings?
Attend meetings as a guest as many times as you like, before deciding if you want to officially join the club! We welcome communicators of all levels!

DTCC Toastmasters usually meets two Tuesdays a month, from 12 noon until 1 PM . All regular meetings are open to the public.

Additional workshops on speech-giving and Toastmasters Roles, as well as our mentorship program are also offered for members only, so let us know when you're ready to join our club.

How Should I Prepare For a Meeting?

If you are speaking, make sure to bring your Competent Communicator manual to be evaluated for CC Certification credit. It is also a good idea to provide an introduction through the duty roster so the Toastmaster can use it to set up your speech.
